Grand Tichu Guide

Grand Tichu is the boldest bet in the game: 200 points on the line that you will go out first. It can swing a match instantly, but only if you choose the right moment and have the right hand.

When You Can Call

You may announce Grand Tichu after receiving your first 8 cards, before you take the final 6. This timing matters because you are committing without full information. If your opening 8 are already strong, Grand Tichu becomes a realistic option.

Hand Strength Checklist

Look for multiple ways to take the lead: the Dragon, several Aces, a bomb, or long connected sequences. You also want minimal weak single cards that can be trapped. A Grand Tichu hand usually has a clear exit plan in two or three large combinations.

After the Call

Once you call, your partner should focus on giving you the lead and avoiding point-heavy tricks. Use the Dog to pass control, fulfill wishes that help you, and sacrifice your own exit order if it increases your chance to finish first.
